The right truck tire for every job
Under standard truck tires we categorize:
Steer shaft tires
Tires mounted on the steering axle of a truck are designed specifically for their steering function. They have a carcass that deforms less under lateral forces, ensuring good straight-line stability.
Important features of these tires are handling, performance and driver comfort. In addition, they play a crucial role in safety and the ability to cover long distances. In general, steer axle tires have a line profile.
Tractor shaft tires
Tractor axle tires are designed for the truck’s drive axles. Their main purpose is to provide a lot of grip to get the truck moving. So these tires will deform a little more to get more grip on the road, especially important when driving on snow or mud.
The tread on these tires is designed to bite into the surface when in contact with the road and to easily release dirt when it comes back off the road. Typically, tow axle tires have a block tread. For garden contractors, excavators, concrete trucks and contractors who frequent yards or recycling centers, an aggressive block tread with large studs is chosen. These tires are usually described as mixed tires because they should offer traction both on and off the road.
Trailer/semi-trailer tires
Tires for semi-trailers or truck trailers must be strong to support heavy loads. Wear resistance is an important feature, along with good straight-line stability and low rolling resistance for fuel economy. These tires are designed to perform well on the free-running positions of the trailer axle. In addition, they are often reinforced to resist damage from curbs and uneven roads. Trailer tires can have either a line or block tread. With standard truck tires, there is usually a distinction in the application. Do you mainly do urban transport, regional or international transport? Based on this, we suggest the ideal tire.
